Did You Go to Shrimp and Wine Fest 2016?

Shrimp and Wine

Last weekend was your chance to taste what some claim is the most delicious boiled shrimp in all of Texas — we’re talking about the annual Shrimp and Wine Fest. The festival treated guests to plenty of great food and drink on Saturday, November 12th at El Paseo de Santa Angela. The event took place from 4-8pm. Tickets proceeds went to the Home Builders Association of San Angelo.

For the cost of a ticket, each guest got a plate of delicious boiled shrimp prepared with special seasonings and spices. The shrimp came with corn, potatoes, sausage links and your choice of iced tea or sweet tea. The San Angelo Rotary Club who hosts the event understands that some folks keep busy on Saturdays, so to-go orders were available to accommodate those out and about.

As the name would suggest, the annual Shrimp and Wine fest includes a selection of wines for tasting and sipping along with your shrimp. However, the wine is not included in the price of the ticket and is sold separately.

The Home Builders Association of San Angelo put the profits toward their Operation FINALLY HOME program, a nonprofit project that brings experienced builders and suppliers together to build homes for injured or ill veterans and their families.

If you missed this year’s Shrimp and Wine Fest, look for details on next year’s event to try some of the tastiest seafood around.

2nd Annual Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark Festival on October 27th

Last year marked the first-ever Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark festival in San Angelo, Texas, where the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Angelo State University worked together to bring a free public celebration of the legendary Day of the Dead to the area. Held at the museum itself and beginning at 6 PM, the 2nd annual event invites everyone in the San Angelo area to experience this slice of Mexican culture and art while bringing together a sense of community.

Tons of events and activities will be offered, such as performances by the Ballet Folklorico and the Ballet Azteca, as well as live music from a Selena cover band, a traditional dress-up contest with cash prizes, a parade with a mariachi band, and much, much more. Food and art vendors will be available onsite if you’d like to bring a little bit of the celebration home with you, too, and the ASU Cultural Center will be providing a Community Altar for event goers to partake in the act of remembering those who have passed away.

The Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark event will be held on October 27th and feature the artwork, photography, music, and dance of the Mexican-American community in San Angelo, Texas – but, of course, the festival is for everyone to participate and enjoy.

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept Debuts in Paris

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept

A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV shown here at a charging station.

After the success of the Outlander earlier this year, Mitsubishi announced plans to reevaluate their lineup, phasing out some of their less popular nameplates and refocusing their efforts on the crossover and SUV segment. It seems one of the first results of that new strategy will be making an appearance at the Paris Motor Show in the form of the new Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept. This plug-in hybrid SUV offers a more aggressive, stylish look than your typical Mitsubishi nameplate, and its capabilities are strides ahead of most current members of the PHEV segment, too.

According to Mitsubishi representatives, the GT-PHEV will combine a traditional gasoline engine powering the front wheels with an electric motor powering the rear wheels. As a result, the SUV will be able to run up to 75 miles on electricity alone without ever tapping into the fuel tank, about double that of most plug-in hybrids currently in mass-market production. The SUV also features a sleeker, futuristic style, designed with thinner elements and a low-sloped windshield that ends in a sharp rear bumper.

We haven’t been given a peek yet at the interior of the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept, though that’s sure to change when the vehicle makes it appearance in Paris. We hear whisperings of burgundy leather that matches the SUV’s roof color, plus a spacious horizontal dashboard.

Mitsubishi Donates EVs to the Laos Government

Mitsubishi donated two i-MIEV models to the Laos government.

Environmentally-friendly, the i-MIEV will do well in Laos.

In anticipation of Laos’s budding economy and future predictions of its progression into the automotive industry, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has donated two vehicles to the Laos government… but the neat thing about these cars is that they are both i-MIEV models, a new type of electric vehicle Mitsubishi hopes to see tested in Laos.

The electric vehicles, or EVs, are built to be environmentally-friendly, and Laos’s large rivers serve as a perfect resource for renewable energy for such vehicles. The advancement of EVs, of course, would help to reduce CO2 emissions and lesson the amount of pollution produced by modern day vehicles in a developing economy.

So Mitsubishi wants to see where this car goes as Laos’s economy grows in the coming years, hoping to see it catch on in the market there. Mitsubishi already had their mark on Laos as a place to expand their sales back in December when they signed a contract with KLM Import-Export Sole Co., LTD., who is now their distributor in Laos, to rebuild their market in the country. There are plans to deliver more EVs and other vehicles in Mitsubishi’s line up in the future to the Laos market.

Of course, there are also a ton of great Mitsubishis still here in the states. Stop by Randall Mitsubishi to check one out today!

Come September 16, the Mitsubishi Motors brand will add famed former Formula One driver Nigel Mansell to its list of franchise owners. Mansell will add the automaker’s products to his family-run dealership in the United Kingdom, The Mansell Collection.

Recently opened in 2013, Mansell is ready to take his dealership to the next level by adding Mitsubishi’s models to the lineup.

“Our dealership has gone from strength to strength and the time is right to get a franchise on board. We wanted a brand that crossed a lot of boundaries of motoring and with Mitsubishi there’s something for everyone,” Mansell said.

“The most exciting thing for me is how great the Mitsubishi product is.”

Mansell’s dealership also offers customers a unique experience through “The Nigel Mansell Story” museum, which allows them to explore Mansell’s trophies and winning cars.

Mansell’s son, Leo, who manages the new dealership, said, “Mitsubishi is a perfect fit for us. The range of vehicles excites me and this is a great opportunity. Having the museum at the dealership is a real asset and it’s been a far bigger success than we imagined.”

We at Randall Mitsubishi are excited to have the racing legend join the Mitsubishi family. After all, the Mansell family knows what it takes to make a winning team.

Mitsubishi’s Electric Racecar Wins at Pikes Peak

Mitsubishi's electric racecar was no match for the competition at Pikes Peak.

Mitsubishi’s electric racecar was no match for the competition at Pikes Peak.

Mitsubishi’s new electric racecar, the MiEV Evolution III got a win at the premiere motorsports race at Pikes Peak. Not only did the electric vehicle win in its class, it set the only record at this year’s Pikes Peak event, with the best performance in the electric modified class.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is held annually in Colorado and is the premier event in motorsports. This year, Mitsubishi entered with a newly developed electric racecar and pulled out the win and a new world record.

The new car was developed with Exa Japan’s Exa PowerFLOW. This technology created new aerodynamics for the racecar. Engineers tested PowerFLOW in wind tunnels and simulations and confirmed that this was technology with maximized design parameters.

And all of the research paid off when the the MiEV Evolution III won. It achieved superior downforce in its race to help complete the win.

We here at Randall Mitsubishi are very proud of the new car for pulling out the win, and we’re excited to see where the racing technology will take Mitsubishi cars.

Mitsubishi Outlander Finds Place on KBB.com’s Best Back-to-School Car List

The Mitsubishi Outlander is the Best Back to School car.

The Mitsubishi Outlander will get you back to school in style.

The Mitsubishi Outlander, the brand’s popular compact crossover, fits into a category exclusive to a very small number of vehicles. It’s the category of cars that are both extremely practical and extremely fun-to-drive. Those factors, among many others, helped the Outlander earn a spot on KBB.com’s “10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2014” list.

Here’s how KBB.com summed up the Outlander’s appeal: “One of the most affordable crossovers you can buy is also among the most stylish. The Outlander Sport is the only SUV to make this year’s list, and balances a fun demeanor with the peace of mind of a 10-year/100,0000-mile powertrain warranty.”

Especially attractive to parents is the low starting price of just $19,595, an amazing base price when one considers everything the Outlander features. It offers FUSE Hands-Free Link System, seven airbags, Active Stability Control, and even Mitsubishi’s exclusive Reinforced Safety Impact Evolution technology. With that much technology and safety equipment, it’s no surprise that the Outlander takes its place as one of the best back-to-school vehicle options. Come in to Randall Mitsubishi to see it for yourself today.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage Named Most Affordable Car

Cars.com labels the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage affordable.

The Mirage won’t tug at your wallet as much as other cars, and it is worth it.

CNN Money reports that the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage has been named the year’s most affordable car by Cars.com.

Cars.com, the gold standard in online automotive resources, did not simply rank all vehicles by retail price. The website examined cars of all shapes and sizes, requiring that all of them come equipped with power windows and door locks, Bluetooth capability, and USB ports. Additionally, editors factored in the price that customers would pay at the pump the first five years of ownership.

When Cars.com added together its price with options and destination fee ($15,015) and the five year fuel cost ($7,000), the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE Automatic was the number one most affordable car, at a total cost of $22,015

“When we considered the most affordable cars, it was important that we looked only at models equipped with basic but important options like an automatic transmission and power windows and locks,” said Joe Wiesenfelder, the Executive Editor of Cars.com. “More often than not, entry-level cars with the lowest sticker prices are equipped only with a manual transmission and little to no additional features. We wanted to help consumers who want an incredibly affordable car to find one that also includes the niceties that almost every shopper has come to expect.”

If you are looking for a car that combines exceptional quality and value, stop by Randall Mitsubishi today to try out the year’s most affordable vehicle.
