Valentine’s Day Driving Tips to Remember on Every Date

Valentine’s Day Driving Tips

This Valentine’s Day and on all date nights to come – though driving safety may be the last thing on your mind – we urge you to think otherwise. The influence of your favorite music, alcohol, and even an intoxicating date can quickly make a casual drive dangerous.

Not sure where to begin? Check out these Valentine’s Day driving tips, which are relevant year-round.

  • Let your date, or whoever is in the passenger’s seat, choose the music that’s playing, so you can keep your hands on the wheel.
  • Though you may be tempted to wear your most fancy shoes for a big date, be sure to have something comfortable to wear behind the wheel.
  • Don’t pick up your cell phone. Not only is it dangerous, but also, your date may appreciate it if you avoid your phone for most of the evening.
  • Perhaps stick with safe foods if you are going out to eat. You don’t want to find yourself in desperate need of the bathroom while you’re driving your date around.
  • And lastly – never, ever drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Your vehicle, your life, and potentially the lives of others, are never worth it.

2nd Annual Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark Festival on October 27th

Last year marked the first-ever Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark festival in San Angelo, Texas, where the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Angelo State University worked together to bring a free public celebration of the legendary Day of the Dead to the area. Held at the museum itself and beginning at 6 PM, the 2nd annual event invites everyone in the San Angelo area to experience this slice of Mexican culture and art while bringing together a sense of community.

Tons of events and activities will be offered, such as performances by the Ballet Folklorico and the Ballet Azteca, as well as live music from a Selena cover band, a traditional dress-up contest with cash prizes, a parade with a mariachi band, and much, much more. Food and art vendors will be available onsite if you’d like to bring a little bit of the celebration home with you, too, and the ASU Cultural Center will be providing a Community Altar for event goers to partake in the act of remembering those who have passed away.

The Dia De Los Muertos: Art After Dark event will be held on October 27th and feature the artwork, photography, music, and dance of the Mexican-American community in San Angelo, Texas – but, of course, the festival is for everyone to participate and enjoy.

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept Debuts in Paris

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept

A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV shown here at a charging station.

After the success of the Outlander earlier this year, Mitsubishi announced plans to reevaluate their lineup, phasing out some of their less popular nameplates and refocusing their efforts on the crossover and SUV segment. It seems one of the first results of that new strategy will be making an appearance at the Paris Motor Show in the form of the new Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept. This plug-in hybrid SUV offers a more aggressive, stylish look than your typical Mitsubishi nameplate, and its capabilities are strides ahead of most current members of the PHEV segment, too.

According to Mitsubishi representatives, the GT-PHEV will combine a traditional gasoline engine powering the front wheels with an electric motor powering the rear wheels. As a result, the SUV will be able to run up to 75 miles on electricity alone without ever tapping into the fuel tank, about double that of most plug-in hybrids currently in mass-market production. The SUV also features a sleeker, futuristic style, designed with thinner elements and a low-sloped windshield that ends in a sharp rear bumper.

We haven’t been given a peek yet at the interior of the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept, though that’s sure to change when the vehicle makes it appearance in Paris. We hear whisperings of burgundy leather that matches the SUV’s roof color, plus a spacious horizontal dashboard.

Fall Car Maintenance You Can Do at Home

fall car maintenance

Do a quick inspection of your car to make sure it’s ready for the fall weather!

There’s a lot of car maintenance that needs to just be done at the shop by professionals. However, you can save on fall car maintenance costs by doing some of it yourself. Service during this time of year is important with the hazardous weather and low temperatures steadily approaching. Try doing some of these simple checks to keep your vehicle working properly through the colder months.

Change wiper blades: This doesn’t take much! Most wipers are easily lifted off the windshield by a hinge, and you can snap the old ones out, put the new ones in, and lower them back onto the windshield.

Check and top off fluids: Oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid – all of these are important for you safety. Yes, even the wiper fluid. Make sure all the fluids are clean, and if anything looks low, top it off.

Replace your air filter: Air filters aren’t expensive. Most should fall in the range of $10-$15. It’s easy to pick one up from the store and replace the old one.

Inspect battery: Your battery capacity is drastically reduced in cold temperatures, so make sure you check the health of your battery and make sure all the connections are tight and clean.

Fall car maintenance doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. Just make sure you have a professional like the ones in the Randall Mitsubishi Service Department take care of any of the really tough or sensitive stuff, like an engine tune-up, before you head into the winter.

Fourth of July Traditions

Fourth of July

From picnics to fireworks there are so many great ways to celebrate the Fourth of July!

The Fourth of July is full of celebration. There’s tons of different ways to celebrate besides going to see fireworks. Here are some Fourth of July traditions you can take part in.

Picnics

Get out your patriotic blanket and pick a great spot on a beach or in a park. Bring your favorite “American” food, from hot dogs to mac & cheese or just good old potato chips. You can even bring along gear for a baseball or volleyball game.

Rodeos

Look to see if there are any rodeos going on around you. This distinctly Western sport will have you shouting “Yee-Haw.” San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo will be hosting World Series Team Roping over Fourth of July weekend!

Parades

This might be obvious, but there’s nothing quite like a parade to celebrate a holiday. You’ll get to watch floats roll by, listen to bands, and commemorate the troops.

Do-Your-Own Fireworks

Make sure you follow all the laws if you go this way, but you can buy your own fireworks and have your own mini Fireworks show in your backyard. Just make sure you’re doing it in a big, safe space on your own property.

Let us know your favorite Fourth of July tradition in the comments below or by visiting Randall Mitsubishi in San Angelo today!
