All-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Unveiled in Geneva

From 1990 through 2012, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was a beloved sports coupe and convertible that helped build-up the Mitsubishi name for performance. That model may be gone, but its name is making a comeback. The 2018 Eclipse Cross, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, is not a sporty coupe, but a compact crossover.

Size-wise, this new model will fit between the current Outlander and Outlander Sport. It shares the same platform as the other two and will be 173.4 inches long. Mitsubishi says that the next updates for the other two models will make them larger and smaller, respectively.

The Eclipse Cross comes with sophisticated styling inside and out. It will be powered by a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Power ratings haven’t been released yet; however, Mitsubishi says it will be more powerful than the current Outlander, which makes 166 horsepower with its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.

Inside, passengers will find modern features, including a sophisticated touchscreen system. Available technology includes a head-up display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be coming to Randall Mitsubishi in early 2018. We’re excited to see this all-new addition sitting on our showroom floor and can’t wait to see how it performs on the road.
