Car Battery TipsAlthough the joys of car ownership are many, regular car maintenance is usually not one of them. Unless you happen to be a car tech expert like our experienced technicians here at Randall Mitsubishi. While there are many aspects to caring for your car, knowing the basics of car battery maintenance is essential for every driver.

We at Randall Mitsubishi are glad to help. Here are a few fast facts about your car’s battery that will enable you to take better care of it:

  1. A car battery should last about six years.

  1. No matter how kind you are to your battery, eventually, it will die. Here are a few signs that your battery is nearing the end of its shelf life:
    • Slow cranking upon ignition
    • Battery warning light turns on
    • Basic electronics stop functioning (i.e. electronic locks or power windows)

  1. Your battery can overheat, especially here in Texas. Intense heat can literally evaporate your battery fluid.

  1. Sometimes, it’s not the battery’s fault. If you’re experiencing dead-battery-like symptoms, it could be due to worn spark plugs or clogged fuel injectors.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s US Launch Delayed

Electric car enthusiasts have been waiting with bated breath for the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) to be released in American markets. Once it arrives, it will no doubt give a new kind of relevance to the Mitsubishi name. Unfortunately, no one knows for certain exactly when the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is planning on showing up. Though it’s listed as a 2017 model year vehicle on the Mitsubishi website, it will likely be delayed until the 2018 model year.

This is the second postponement this year for the vehicle that was first expected in summer 2016. However, Europe got early access to the PHEV in 2013, and by their standards, it should be worth the wait. The PHEV became the bestselling plug-in on the continent.

So what are we waiting for? For one, the pricing will be more competitive in the states, and therefore Mitsubishi is under pressure to find the perfect balance. Secondly, we’re waiting—patiently—for the best possible incarnation of the PHEV.

According to the company’s North American spokesperson Alex Fedorak, we can expect “better driving characteristics and more features” when the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s US Launch finally happens. Though the wait is challenging for those of us eager to take the PHEV for a spin, in the end, it will be worth it because we’re waiting for a plug-in hybrid that will exceed our expectations.

Dodge Sells Rebadged Mitsubishi as Dodge Attitude in Mexico

Dodge and Mitsubishi work together via their joint venture, Diamond-Star Motors, but the relationship doesn’t end there. We’ve recently learned that Mitsubishi has allowed Dodge to rebadge their Attrage sedan, and sell it as a Dodge Attitude, available only in Mexico.

Dodge Attitude = Mitsubishi Mirage

The rebadged Mitsubishi is called the Dodge Attitude and is based on the Mirage we all know and love, sporting only a different body shell. According to, the Dodge Attitude will sell for 157,900 to 199,000 pesos (about $10,558 to $13,305), a steal compared to the 2015 Dodge Dart that starts at $16,495 (the least expensive Dodge available in the U.S.).

Powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that is capable of putting out 76 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque, the Mitsubishi-based Dodge Attitude is available in two trims; SE and SXT. What’s really impressive though, is just how much standard equipment this car receives for such a low price tag. Included in the base trim are a push-button start, power locks and windows, keyless entry, and a two-speaker Sony CD/USB/iPod stereo system. Opt for the SXT trim, and add air conditioning and an improved four-speaker audio system.

What do you think? Is the affordable Attitude worth heading south of the border for? Tell us in the comments!

New Mitsubishi Outlander Spotted In Camouflage

Mitsubishi Outlander SpottedThe Mitsubishi Outlander is as rugged and capable as its name suggests. Therefore, Mitsubishi is currently working on an updated design that will reflect the Outlander’s personality even more. The new Mitsubishi Outlander was recently spotted in some spy photos, which show the updated Outlander draped in camouflage design.

The Mitsubishi Outlander spotted by Motoring has camouflage covering the front and rear of the vehicle, so we’re assuming that those areas will be most heavily changed in the upcoming new model. Here at Randall Mitsubishi, we’re hoping that the new Outlander takes after the stunning Outlander Concept S, which recently surprised us at the Paris Motor Show. However, whatever angle the designers took, we’re sure it will be the right one.

Come see us here at Randall to see the current Outlander so you can make a complete comparison when that camouflage on the new model finally gets removed. We’re here to help you, showing you all the great vehicles in our lineup and giving you the scoop on all the future Mitsubishi news and products.
