Celebrate Family Fun Month Here in San Angelo

Enjoy some quality family time before the summer comes to an end!

Before the kids head back to school, spend some time together during Family Fun Month. You don’t even have to go far from home. There is a lot to do this month right here in San Angelo, Texas.

  • Art Thursday. Every Thursday at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, there are two art projects you can try for free. These projects include clay, watercolor, and more. Drop in anytime between 3 and 6pm.
  • Family Day at the Museum. On Saturday, August 13th, head to the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. The whole family can enjoy the museum’s entire collection for free. There will even be live music, hands-on projects, and free food samples with cooking demonstrations.
  • The Beach Boys. Hear this iconic group perform live on August 24th at 7:30pm at the Foster Communications Coliseum.
  • Brisket Sale. If you love beef brisket and supporting good causes, the East Angelo Lions club is holding its annual Brisket Sale August 26th and 27th at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Briskets are sold for $8.75 a pound. Proceeds will fund projects to help less fortunate families in our area. Buy a brisket and host one last family cookout before the summer comes to a close.

With June being National Camping Month, it is the perfect time to get out and enjoy nature!

As the school year ends, it’s the perfect time of year to head outdoors for some family fun. Because of this, June is recognized as National Camping Month. Here are some great places to camp near San Angelo, Texas, whether you will be bringing along the RV or setting up your own tent.

  • San Angelo State Park. This great park offers a fantastic campground with a variety of different sites available. Prices range from as little as $10 per night, which includes an outdoor grill, picnic table, and nearby restrooms and water, to as much as $50 per night for group camp sites.
  • San Angelo KOA. This campground has hookups for up to 50 amps. You can also enjoy yourself with the large pool and even a Wi-Fi connection. They also have bicycles available to rent so you can go for a short ride to nearby Lake Nasworthy.
  • Spring Creek Marina & RV Park. With this destination, you are camping right along the water. They have 83 spacious, grassy RV sites along with wooded tent sites and pre-furnished cabins.

May 8th: An Evening of Dance – San Angelo Civic Ballet

Ballet isn’t for everyone; however, if you haven’t been to one before, it’s definitely worth a watch. The evening incorporates classical and contemporary styles, meaning you will be whisked away for the night by the San Angelo Civic Ballet dancers.

May 8th – 10th: Mary Poppins – San Angelo Broadway Academy Youth

Mary Poppins is a wonderful story we’re all familiar with, so grab your family and head over to the San Angelo Broadway for Youth Theater! Tickets for the event can be found here.

May 9th: Jewelry & Accessory Expo

This is the perfect mother/daughter event happening just before Mother’s Day! The event is completely free and will feature 25 vendors with beautiful jewelry and accessory items to choose from. If you’re one of the first 200 people at the event, you will even receive a free gift bag. Grab all the wonderful women and girls in your life and head over to the Sunset Mall to get your glam on.

May 9th: 7th Annual Simply Texas Blues Festival

This event will be music to your ears… blues that is. Head downtown on the 9th to check out the wonderful musicians, car show, motor cycle show, and Rib-fest cook-off! Ribs and music, what could be better?
