Mitsubishi-Gloucester Rugby Sponsorship

Mitsubishi-Gloucester Rugby Sponsorship

Mitsubishi is very excited to use this sponsorship as an opportunity to grow the brand and reach more customers!

Good news, sports fans! Mitsubishi has recently signed on as a sponsor for Gloucester Rugby. The three year agreement means that the Mitsubishi diamonds will appear on the playing and training shirts, replica wear, and as branding around Kingsholm Stadium. That’s a good amount of advertising and exposure.

Mitsubishi has been growing rapidly in the United Kingdom and the Mitsubishi-Gloucester Rugby sponsorship will only increase that growth. Mitsubishi has been a sponsor of the rugby team for eight years and a three year contract means good things.

“Gloucester Rugby is one of the most famous clubs in England. They regularly play live on TV. Our sponsorship will see the Mitsubishi brand being viewed over 16 million times a season,” said Lance Bradley, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors UK.

The renewed, main partner sponsorship comes at a time when Mitsubishi is launching several new models in the region. The all-new L200 pickup truck is a symbol of Mitsubishi’s reliability and strength, something that resonates well with the Gloucester Rugby players.

“We are thrilled to be able to confirm Mitsubishi Motors (UK) as our new main partner. We already have a strong working relationship and we look forward to building on this over the next few years,” said Stephen Vaughan, Gloucester Rugby Chief Executive.

We here at Randall Mitsubishi are all for more Mitsubishi exposure and growth around the world!

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition Debuts

Lancer Evo Final Edition

Mitsubishi is coming out with its final edition of the Lancer Evo, only a limited amount will be produced in the US!

It’s been a long race for the iconic Lancer Evo, but now it’s coming to an end. Mitsubishi Motors is taking orders in the Japanese market for the Lancer Evo Final Edition as of Friday, April 9th. The Final Edition, obviously from the name, is the last special edition of the turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan before production stops altogether.

Ten generations have come and gone. Mitsubishi revealed a 480 hp powerhouse at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year but, unfortunately, the Final Edition isn’t it and it looks as though a Lancer Evo with that power will forever remain a concept.

Different from your everyday Lancer Evolution, the Final Edition will feature a black chrome grille, glossy black trim on the lower front bumper, and air vent bezels. “Final Edition” will also be mounted on the trunk lid. Inside, a metal plaque will be engraved with the vehicle’s serial number.

Under the hood, the Final Edition carries the usual 2-liter turbocharged four cylinder capable of 291 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Different from the usual model is an upgrade to sodium-filled exhaust valves for better performance at high engine speeds.

Only 1,000 of the Final Edition models will make it to roadways in Japan. The United States will see an exclusive Final Edition in summer 2016. Stop by Randall Mitsubishi to learn more about the new model!

Trailblazing 2016 i-MiEV Technology Arrives in March

2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV

2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV

2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV will have better technology at a more affordable price coming this month

Mitsubishi is bringing a more affordable and better-equipped i-MiEV to America this month.

Available for an MSRP of $23,995 minus a federally sponsored tax credit, this electric Mitsubishi can be driven for $15,495, which is the lowest price of any EV on the market. The I-MiEV represents high value with standard features like heated driver and passenger seats, heated mirrors, and remote keyless entry.

However, the 2016 i-MiEV’s technology is what really makes the super-efficient electric vehicle desirable. It is powered by an electric motor capable of 49 kW (66hp) mated to a single-speed transmission that delivers uniform torque throughout the entire rpm range. For safety, an Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBF), Brake Assist (BA), and stability and traction controls help keep the i-MiEV on the road and driving clear of traffic.

Its 16 kWh lithium-ion batteries are mounted low on the vehicle, providing a total range of 62 clean miles. Charging is fast and easy with its DC rapid charger that can amp up to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.

Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept: Introducing the Future of SUVs

Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept

Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept

The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept revealed earlier this week. This could be the future of the SUV.

It’s hard to believe the new Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept isn’t from a Sci-Fi movie. With futuristic styling, a hybrid-electric drivetrain, and an array of crossover technology, the new GC-PHEV could just be the future of SUVs.

According to Car and Driver, the acronym stands for Grand Cruiser Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle – say that five times fast. The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 94 hp electric motor. Combined it has more than 400 hp, capable of leaving most gas-powered crossovers in its dust.

“As Mitsubishi brings to North America the GC-PHEV, a hybrid-electric crossover designed, apparently, by the Rebel Alliance…this spacey vehicle is expected to herald the styling of future SUVs,” said Car and Driver editor, Aaron Robinson.

Aside from its space-ship like design, the GC also comes with a Super All-Wheel Control system (think souped-up AWD) and an energy recovery system. In theory, the new model could power the average house for 13 days – that’s just how advanced the electric system is. With all of this and more, the whole family at Randall Mitsubishi can’t wait to see the GC go into production.

“Thanks to our advanced high-tech engineering and safety features, the Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander, and Outlander Sport have consistently achieved high IIHS safety ratings,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology. In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection.”

This system alerts the driver when a possible frontal collision is imminent. Both the Outlander Sport and Lancer sedan received the honor of Top Safety Picks. This is the fourth year in a row the Outlander Sport was recognized with this award while the Lancer has received this safety rating seven other times.

Mitsubishi Announces Final Edition Evo X to Arrive in June

Final Edition Evo X announced

The Lancer Evolution is officially ending but there will be a final edition Evo X!

Don Swearingen, an executive vice president at Mitsubishi Motors North America, recently took part in an online question and answer session on Jalopnik. While the topics of the Q&A ranged from the status of the company’s fleet vehicles to the Delica being moved to the US, the most important bit of information gleaned from the session involved the future of the Lancer Evolution—or the lack of one.

Final Edition Evo X in the Works

Swearingen took the opportunity to finally confirm that the Evo series is no longer continuing, stating, “There are currently no plans for an Evo XI.” This doesn’t mean that the final edition Evo X isn’t going to be just as exciting as its predecessors, though. It is set to feature a GSR five-speed, boasting more ponies under the hood; a better tuned suspension; and other changes that are sure to help the Evo go out with a bang.

Only 2,000 final edition Evo X models will be available, so make sure you get them while you can. Until then, stop in to Randall Mitsubishi today and see what else our brand has to offer!

Achieving Milestones with Mitsubishi Social Media

Mitsubishi Social Media

Mitsubishi social media is booming! Their Facebook page reached 2 millions likes recently.

With social media as prominent as ever, Mitsubishi was pleased to announce it broke a milestone–the two million “likes” milestone. The brand’s popular Facebook page has grown significantly in the past two years, more than tripling in followers. We here at Randall Mitsubishi are glad to be a part of such enthusiasm.

Improving Mitsubishi Social Media

“Over the last couple of years, we have made a concerted effort to make the Mitsubishi Motors page a fun and informative destination on Facebook,” said MMNA Executive Vice President, Don Swearingen. “This has resulted in our Facebook page becoming an outstanding means of communication between the brand and our highly engaged and passionate Mitsubishi Motors community.”

According to Mitsubishi, this recent increase in “likes” parallels the success in sales. Mitsubishi social media is becoming an important part of spreading the word about the great models. By showcasing vehicles like the Lancer EVO, the Outlander, and the Mirage, the site gives consumers extra coverage.

CEO Promises New Mitsubishi Products Sometime Soon

new Mitsubishi products

A plug-in hybrid version of the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Outlander PHEV, is one of the proposed new Mitsubishi products.

The CEO of Mitsubishi, Osamu Masuko, is promising new Mitsubishi products in the near future, building on the momentum Mitsubishi has gained in the United States this year, with its highest profits since the global financial crisis.

New Mitsubishi Products

Two projects can be found at the top of Mitsubishi’s to-do list: a plug-in hybrid crossover Outlander PHEV, which had previously been delayed, and a sedan version of the subcompact Mirage hatchback. Soon after, the company plans to up its hybrid game with plug-in versions of the Outlander Sport and maybe even the Montero SUV.

Mitsubishi’s initial sales target for this fiscal year (which ends on March 31, 2015) was to sell 109,000 vehicles, and based on the exceeding sales so far, the target has already been pushed to 116,000. The company is projecting an operating profit for the fiscal year, which will be their first since March 2007.

Masuko gives credit for these North American profits to stellar sales of the Outlander Sport and the Mirage hatchback, both imported from Thailand. Mitsubishi’s sales have grown 30% through October alone, compared to an industry-wide average of 6%.

Mitsubishi Prepares to Launch a Renault-Nissan-Based Compact Sedan

Renault-Nissan-Based Compact Sedan

The Mitsubishi Lancer will be replaced with a Renault-Nissan-Based Compact Sedan in the future.

In November of last year, we learned that Mitsubishi joined forces with the Renault-Nissan alliance, allowing the automakers to share platforms, technology, products, and manufacturing capacities. Now, the group has made clear their next move: replace the slow-selling Mitsubishi Lancer with a new compact sedan that will be based on either a Renault or Nissan model.

Besides telling us that the sedan will be based on a Renault or a Nissan, the companies haven’t revealed (or decided) any additional details. We do know that the new compact sedan will be a global model, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it available in Europe.

In addition the Renault-Nissan-based compact sedan, World Car Fans reports that a mid-size sedan based on the Renault Latitude is in the works. We know a bit more about the new mid-size sedan; according to Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko, it will be assembled by Renault Samsung in Busan, South Korea, will be sold in the U.S. and Canada, and is scheduled to be available in two to three years.

Here at Randall Mitsubishi, we want to know what you think – are you excited at the prospect of a Renault and/or Nissan-based Mitsubishi? Tell us in the comments!
